In western China, multilevel and diversified assistive devices for the rehabilitation of the elderly, the disabled and the sick or injured persons are a demand to be met due to the underdeveloped medical services and rehabilitation industry as well as severe aging resulted from uneven economic growth, large-scale labor outflows and other factors. As the massive health industry was identified as a strategic emphasis in the “13th Five-Year Plan” (2016-2020), the western region has been making frequent efforts in the field of assistive devices for rehabilitation in recent years. In Panzhihua of Sichuan Province, Lanzhou (Lanzhou New District) of Gansu Province, Hohhot of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, which were selected as national pilot areas of assistive devices for rehabilitation by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, a group of well-known enterprises with great competitiveness and influence are being formed. Shaanxi has established “Xi Xian New District”, a national new district, striving to create a western health industry cluster represented by 3D printing. A group of western universities and colleges represented by Xi’an Jiaotong University have set rehabilitation majors to input intellectual resources to the industry of assistive devices for rehabilitation.
In this context, the C&R Expo China Organizing Committee will hold the “Assistive Devices and Elderly Care Rehabilitation Exchanges” in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province on April 26 (Friday), 2019. Leaders from China Assistive Devices and Technology Centre for Persons with Disabilities, Shaanxi Disabled Persons’ Federation, Shaanxi Assistive Devices and Technology Centre for Persons with Disabilities, as well as delegates from renowned enterprises, business associations and media in western China will be invited to the event to exchange on hot topics in assistive devices for rehabilitation, contributing to the prosperity of assistive devices, elderly care and rehabilitation in the region.
